Over 500 New Sanctions on Russia

U.S. President Joe Biden announced "the imposition of over 500 new sanctions on Russia due to its ongoing war to invade Ukraine and the death of Alexei Navalny. These sanctions will target individuals linked to Navalny's imprisonment as well as the financial sector in Russia, the defense industrial base, procurement networks, and those evading sanctions across multiple continents." Biden noted that "we are imposing new export restrictions on nearly 100 entities providing backdoor support to the Russian war machine," adding, "we are taking steps to further reduce Russia's energy revenues." Biden reiterated his call for the U.S. House of Representatives to pass a bill for additional funding for Ukraine "before it is too late."
