Hamiye Publishes a Schedule with Figures on Road Maintenance Allocations

The Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Dr. Ali Hamiye, wrote on the "X" platform: "The figures shown in the tables clearly demonstrate that the required allocations for the road maintenance item - at the very minimum - according to reliable studies from 2019, are estimated at $350 million, equivalent to 33 trillion L.L. Meanwhile, the allocations noted in the 2024 budget for road network maintenance amount to only 8.4 trillion L.L. This means that the gap between what is actually needed for this item - according to the reliable studies mentioned - and what has been allocated in this year's budget is estimated at 25 trillion L.L. It is worth noting that there has been no maintenance on these roads for the past five years - as shown in the attached document - and thus, how has their condition become today! Increasing the allocations for this item is more than urgent and necessary to ensure public and traffic safety."
