The Emirati police arrested Dutch player Quincy Promes, a forward for Spartak Moscow, at Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai at the request of the Dutch Public Prosecution Office. He was sentenced in the Netherlands to six years in prison for his involvement in smuggling over 1,350 kg of cocaine in January 2020 in Antwerp. The Dutch authorities requested the extradition of the player, while the Emirati security authorities sought additional documents to resolve the extradition issue, giving the Dutch Public Prosecution Office 48 hours to provide them. Promes' management has turned to lawyers, including Russian lawyers, for assistance. It is noted that in June 2023, a court in Amsterdam sentenced Promes to one and a half years in prison for his involvement in a stabbing incident involving a relative, and the football player later appealed this decision. This season, the forward has played 21 matches with Spartak in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists.
