The Israeli army announced that Israeli fighter jets bombed Syrian military targets today, Sunday, in response to the launch of missiles during the night towards Israeli-controlled territories, amid a resurgence of violence following gunfire across the border days ago. Syrian state media reported explosions around the capital, Damascus. Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee mentioned that the army "continued to bomb Syrian territory after six missiles were launched overnight towards the Golan Heights." He added that the army "conducted artillery and drone attacks to target rocket launchers, followed by airstrikes on an army compound, military radar systems, and artillery positions."
The Israeli army held "the Syrian state responsible for all activities occurring within its territory and will not allow any attempts to violate Israeli sovereignty." The Syrian Ministry of Defense stated that air defenses intercepted Israeli missiles "and shot down some of them." They added that the attacks caused some material losses without any fatalities or injuries reported. Earlier, warning sirens sounded near towns in the Golan Heights as rockets were launched from Syrian territory, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

Reuters reported that the Al-Quds Brigade took responsibility for the missile launches towards the Golan Heights. For its part, the Jordanian army confirmed that a missile exploded in the air, and its fragments fell in the Aqirba valley near the Syrian border. The Jordanian Foreign Ministry warned, in a statement conveyed by Petra, about the catastrophic consequences of continued Israeli attempts to change the historical and legal status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and its violations of the sanctity of holy sites and the right of Muslims to practice their religious rituals during Ramadan.
