German Chancellor Olaf Scholz indicated that "countries supporting Ukraine will use profits from frozen Russian assets to finance Kyiv's weapons purchases" following a meeting with his French and Polish counterparts, demonstrating unity after weeks of disagreement. Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed their support for Ukraine, which is facing some of its toughest battles since the early days of the war over two years ago, during a joint press conference in Berlin. Scholz noted that he "agreed with Macron and Tusk on the necessity of purchasing more weapons for Ukraine from the global market and boosting military equipment production through various means, including collaboration with partners in Ukraine." While discussing the European Union's efforts to increase support for Ukraine, he added, "We will use the unexpected profits from frozen Russian assets in Europe to support the purchase of weapons for Ukraine."
