The U.S. Central Command stated that the United States intercepted two missiles launched toward a container ship in the southern Red Sea from areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen. The command mentioned in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that a Singapore-flagged container ship, owned and operated by Denmark, reported being hit by a missile and requested assistance. In response to the ship’s request, the U.S. destroyer Grievous and the destroyer Laboon responded. The U.S. Central Command explained that while responding to the attack, the destroyer Grievous intercepted two anti-ship ballistic missiles launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. The command clarified that the ship was seaworthy and there were no reports of injuries.
