Title: Ghada Aoun: "Now Applying the Law is a Crime"

Title: Ghada Aoun:

The Attorney General of Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, tweeted: "Now applying the law has become a crime. My crime is that I requested the enforcement of the law to lift bank secrecy. I assure you, depositors, that if this situation continues, a judge will be summoned for daring to request the enforcement of the law. Unfortunately, if it continues like this, you will only see your money in your dreams.

You must know that for 30 years, the law against unjust enrichment was not enforced. I am the first to apply it. The world turned upside down because of that. Those who filed a complaint against me have suspended me from work unlawfully. I act according to my conscience, but if you want to recover your money, you cannot ask for judges from the moon. I offer myself in defense of the right; it doesn’t matter to me.

But who will protect people's rights? O Lord, I have put my trust in You, what will humans do to me? Now, demanding the enforcement of the law, especially the law to lift bank secrecy, has become a crime. It is unacceptable for a judge who demands its enforcement to be summoned. I am sorry to tell you, depositors, that you will not see your money even in your dreams."
