The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces has announced that one of the main reasons for the theft of modern cars is that they are not equipped by the manufacturer with an IMMOBILIZER device, which prevents the engine from starting without its key. This is particularly true for some models of "Kia" and "Hyundai," making them susceptible to theft in a manner similar to older cars. This directorate warns car owners of the necessity to remain vigilant continuously to reduce the risk of their cars being stolen. They can take certain protective measures, the most important of which are:
- Professionally installing devices that are difficult for thieves to access, such as an IMMOBILIZER, GPS, MINI GPS, or secret key to prevent the car from starting, or using a steering wheel lock and activating the lock.
- It is also preferred to park the car in locked locations or in well-lit areas equipped with surveillance cameras whenever possible.
