Why Did Kyrgios Withdraw from Wimbledon Tennis Championship?

Australian Nick Kyrgios, who reached the final of Wimbledon last year, announced his withdrawal from this year's tournament due to a wrist injury, just before the major championship begins on Monday. The 28-year-old player wrote on Instagram: "I am really sad to announce my withdrawal from Wimbledon this year." He added: "I did my best to be ready after undergoing surgery and to be able to show up again on the courts of Wimbledon."

Kyrgios continued: "During my recovery, I felt some pain in my wrist while in Mallorca. I underwent examinations as a precaution, and it turned out there was a ligament tear." Kyrgios had knee surgery earlier this year and lost in his first match after a five-month absence, stumbling against Chinese player Wu Yibing in the first round of the Stuttgart Open last month. Kyrgios missed the French Open due to a foot injury sustained during a car theft. He also withdrew from the Halle and Mallorca tournaments.
