Drone Approaches Near U.S.-Owned Tanker off Yemen

The British maritime security company Ambrey announced today, Thursday, that a U.S.-owned bulk carrier flying the Marshall Islands flag reported the approach of four drones, which circled it approximately 87 miles southeast of Mukalla in Yemen. Ambrey added in a warning note: "One of the drones was reported to have fallen into the water. There were no reports of damage or injuries. The tanker was unharmed and continued its voyage." The maritime security company indicated that the drones remained close to the tanker, noting that this is the second incident involving the unnamed vessel. The British Maritime Trade Operations (BMTO) also reported receiving an incident report about an occurrence 85 nautical miles southeast of Ash Shihr in Yemen, though no further details were provided. Additionally, the BMTO reported another incident 115 nautical miles southeast of the city of Aden. Meanwhile, Ambrey reported that a chemical products tanker flying the Marshall Islands flag also reported suspicious drone approaches 103 miles southeast of Aden, Yemen.
