Asif Ali Zardari, leader of the Pakistan People's Party and former president of Pakistan, has obtained a majority of votes in the presidential elections against his opponent, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, leader of the Awami National Party backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, according to preliminary results.
