Two Turkish men have taken over social media in Turkey after successfully catching a large fish for the first time in their lives. They became the talk of the online community after taking pictures with a fish weighing 71 kilograms and measuring two meters in length, according to local media reports.
In detail, 41-year-old Murat Bilat and his 33-year-old friend Tunay Zılka managed to catch the fish in a river located in Edirne province, on the border with Greece, while enjoying their favorite hobby on Friday afternoon, when they were surprised by the large fish.
Both men transported the fish to their residence, where it was displayed for local residents, some of whom started taking photos with it. Murat Bilat told local media that he has been fishing in the Meriç River for 20 years, stating, "We were surprised when we saw the fish; we didn’t expect such a big fish, and when we suddenly saw it, my friend and I tried to catch it."
He added, "We pulled it out. It was stuck in the net and could not move. We excitedly took it to the boat. Then upon arriving, we realized it weighed 71 kilograms." The Turkish fisherman also mentioned that he started offering his fish for sale at 150 Turkish Lira per kilogram, which is about 5 US dollars, meaning the total price for the fish amounts to 355 dollars.
