The United States imposed sanctions today, Tuesday, on more than ten individuals and entities in Iran, China, and Hong Kong. The US Treasury Department reported that the network conducted transfers and facilitated the purchase of sensitive and vital parts and technology for key entities involved in the development of Iranian ballistic missiles, including the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces Logistics, which are already under US sanctions.
The sanctions included the Iranian military attaché in Beijing, Davood Damghani, who the Treasury accuses of coordinating military-related purchases from China, ultimately reaching Iranian users, including companies affiliated with the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics. The Treasury also accused a company in China of selling centrifuges and other equipment and services worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to an Iranian company.
Additionally, sanctions targeted the company’s director and an employee, as well as Lingwei Process Engineering Limited, based in Hong Kong, accused of acting as a front for the China-based company and its dealings with Iranian companies. Treasury's Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson, stated, "The United States will continue to target cross-border procurement networks that secretly support Iran's ballistic missile production and other military programs."
