Sudani Hosts Iftar for the Elderly

Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiya Al-Sudani participated today, Thursday, in an Iftar meal for the blessed month of Ramadan for the elderly. According to a statement from the media office of the Prime Minister, "Al-Sudani hosted an Iftar meal in honor of the elderly residing in the Al-Rashad and Al-Salih shelters."

The statement added that "Al-Sudani congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, asking God Almighty to accept their deeds and protect all Iraqis, while guiding all efforts aimed at serving the country."

Al-Sudani listened to the requests, needs, and observations of the attending elderly, and directed "to expedite their follow-up." He emphasized in his speech that "in every meeting with officials and advisors, he instructs to provide the best services for the shelters that house our mothers and fathers from the elderly, who have dedicated their years of life to serving Iraq in various fields, whether as state employees or in the private sector."

The Prime Minister instructed those working in the shelters to provide the necessary care for this important segment of society, according to the statement. He addressed his guests, stating that "today is the state’s and its children’s loyalty to you, and what we offer is not a favor or a privilege but an obligation upon us, and we will be up to the responsibility." He affirmed "the government's commitment to providing a comfortable environment in terms of housing, food, and medicine for the elderly in shelters." He announced that "a group of able elderly will be sent for Hajj and Umrah, following the dispatch of a group last year."
