Title: Guterres: We Appreciate Lebanon's Generosity in Hosting Refugees

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York. During the meeting, Guterres reaffirmed the UN's ongoing commitment to support the Lebanese people and expressed appreciation for Lebanon's generosity in hosting Syrian refugees. He confirmed that he would work with donor countries to increase support for the poorest families in Lebanon and to address the refugee crisis. For his part, Mikati thanked the UN for its support of Lebanon on all fronts and thanked Guterres for backing Lebanon's position during the renewal process of UNIFIL's mandate. He reiterated Lebanon's commitment to international resolutions and called on the UN to support Lebanon in stopping Israeli violations of its sovereignty. Mikati also expressed Lebanon's concern over the rising numbers of Syrian refugees and its inability to bear more, especially in light of the severe economic and financial crisis it is facing.
