Information revealed to the newspaper "Nidaa al-Watan" indicates that both the former president of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, and the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, have received invitations to visit Doha and meet with senior officials to discuss the presidential file and ways to expedite its resolution. A source told the same newspaper that the invitations were extended by Qatari Ambassador Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, who, after a meeting of the ambassadors of the quintet committee at his residence, made visits to both Jumblatt and Bassil. He will also make similar visits to other political leaders and extend invitations for them to visit Doha. The source emphasized that these invitations are similar to those received by Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri, who subsequently sent his political advisor, MP Ali Hassan Khalil, to Doha, focused on the possibility of pushing through the presidential election by seizing any opportunity for calm on the open fronts from Gaza to Lebanon and reaching Yemen.
