The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants welcomed U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken's statements regarding the illegality of Israeli settlement construction in Palestinian territories, emphasizing that these actions are not constructive for achieving lasting peace. The ministry called in a statement for the international community to "increase pressure on Israel through firm stances to halt these hostile actions that undermine the chances for a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace, based on relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative issued at the Arab summit in Beirut in 2002, all aimed at establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital." The ministry reiterated that "only just solutions will bring peace to the Middle East, end the ongoing tensions and wars for over 76 years, and provide stability. It is time for Israel to try peace as an alternative to war and occupation."
