The amateur team Rotach-Eggern, competing in the ninth division, made a mistake believing that their opponent Bayern Munich would use a friendly match held yesterday, Tuesday, to merely shake off the relaxation after a long break. The German champions tore apart the amateur team with a score of 27-0. The match was part of Bayern Munich's training camp in Tegernsee in preparation for an upcoming Asian tour.
Before the match, smiles were visible on the faces of the Rotach-Eggern players during a group photo with both teams. However, these smiles quickly disappeared when Jamal Musiala opened the scoring, having secured the title for the Bavarian giant in the last match of the previous season by scoring a goal in the 89th minute, leading to a 2-1 victory over Cologne and snatching the title from Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern ended the first half with an 18-0 lead, and although coach Thomas Tuchel substituted his entire lineup in the second half, the match continued to go in one direction. Musiala, Marcel Sabitzer, and Mathys Tel each scored five goals, while Serge Gnabry netted a hat-trick and 13 different players found the net.
After the match, Tuchel stated, "We have come a long way in our preparations. We are reaping the rewards of hard work. Everyone is ready."
