Israeli media reported that the mayor of the settlement "Kiryat Shmona," Avihai Stern, stated that they have become "like a group of ducks in a firing range, directly targeted by the Ridwaan forces positioned along the fence in southern Lebanon." The mayor added that "as long as the Ridwaan forces are not removed by force and military action, nothing will change," noting that "in all of Israel's wars, diplomatic and security agreements have failed, and the UN resolution (1701) did not hold." Stern emphasized that the settlers in the north "are well aware of this today... we suffer from the consequences of the failure of the agreement," considering that "it is clear that other agreements will also not succeed, as one cannot trust the enemy. They are not negotiating partners, and they cannot be deterred." Stern stated that "in order to tell the residents that they can return to their homes, Hezbollah must be pushed away from the border, and the threat of daily gunfire must stop." Recently, Avihai Stern acknowledged that "every day we have casualties due to Hezbollah's anti-tank rocket fire."
