Al-Murtada: We Will Not Be Lenient in Enforcing Authors' Rights Payments

The Minister of Culture in the caretaker government, Mohamed Wissam Al-Murtada, met today, Wednesday, in his office at the National Library in Sanayeh, with composer Maestro Osama Rahbani, lawyer Janet Azar, and Habib Ashour. They discussed general cultural matters and issues concerning SACEM, the collective management organization for authors’ rights, emphasizing the importance of activating its role through instructing relevant authorities to improve collection conditions and enhance its primary role in cultural and artistic spheres.

During the meeting, they agreed on a series of measures that the Ministry of Culture will take, in coordination with the "SACEM" association, to secure the rights of authors, which some are neglecting or refusing to pay, whether in the public or private sector, disregarding the rights of Lebanese creators at a time when they and their families are in urgent need of support. Minister Al-Murtada confirmed that "the Ministry of Culture will be at the forefront and will spare no effort to ensure that authors receive their rights."
