A Syrian officer of the rank of Captain was killed, and another officer of the same rank was injured in an attack carried out by unknown assailants using RPGs and automatic weapons after midnight on Sunday to Monday. The attack took place at a Syrian army checkpoint near the village of Qirqas in the southeastern part of the Syrian Golan. The injured officer was transferred to a hospital for treatment, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The observatory noted that the two officers were close to the Lebanese Hezbollah.
On February 27, a Colonel was assassinated, and another officer was injured due to a bomb explosion in their vehicle on the road between Nazareth and Ghadir al-Bustan in southern Quneitra, near the border with the occupied Syrian Golan, as reported by the observatory.
