The National Center of Meteorology participated today, Tuesday, in a virtual workshop organized by the Media and Early Warning Committee at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, titled "Dust and Thunderstorms in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia... and the Role of Regional Centers and Media Services in Supporting the Meteorological Sector." The workshop aims to leverage the extensive expertise of the Kingdom, represented by the National Center of Meteorology, to inform the Saudi public about services provided concerning weather fluctuations for the safety of lives and property. It also seeks to update attendees on the benefits of integration between the National Center of Meteorology's services and government media.
The workshop targets specialists, observers, and media personnel in national meteorological facilities, including heads of weather forecasting departments and media services specialists in official government television channels. During the workshop, the Director of Public Relations and Media at the National Center of Meteorology, Hussein Al-Qahtani, spoke about the center's role in providing services related to weather fluctuations. He also presented a documentary film on the dust storm that affected the Kingdom in March 2021, in addition to outlining the roles played by regional centers concerned with dust and sand storms, climate change, and the rain enhancement program.
