The Management and Investment of the Port of Beirut, represented by Chairman and General Manager Omar Aytani, and the Lebanese University, represented by its President Professor Bassam Badran, signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in training, cultural, and developmental areas. The memorandum stipulates the facilitation of Lebanese University students' entry into the labor market by allowing them the opportunity to pursue training within the administrative units of the Management and Investment of the Port of Beirut. Aytani pointed out that the idea stemmed from the Lebanese market's need for manpower, particularly in large facilities like the Port of Beirut. He noted the ongoing partnerships between the public and private sectors in the port and the intention to offer opportunities to students from the Lebanese University, which is Lebanon's alma mater, to open up training avenues for them. Aytani emphasized the goal of developing areas of specialization that Lebanon and its institutions lack, instead of importing expertise from abroad. He mentioned the objective to break the negative cycle of exporting minds and bringing in others, and that this memorandum was formulated in complete collaboration with Professor Badran, with hopes that it will undergo necessary development in the future to open job opportunities.
