In a move following Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib's visit to Damascus and his meeting with Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad, Prime Minister Najib Mikati has invited ministers to a consultative meeting scheduled for 4 PM today at the Grand Serail, with the attendance of all ministers, including those boycotting government work and specifically the Cabinet sessions.
During this meeting, in addition to the topics Mikati will raise regarding the results of his visit to the south yesterday and his meeting with Army Commander General Joseph Aoun and the top officers from the brigade commanders in the south, the ministers will be briefed on a report that Bou Habib will provide about his visit to Damascus. The participants will discuss the content of this report and the outcomes of the meeting regarding the basket of ideas being considered related to the issue of the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, and what the two countries can do at this level.
Sources from "Al-Jomhouria" indicated that Mikati will update the ministers collectively, including those boycotting Cabinet sessions, on the outcomes of his last meeting with the head of the "Free Patriotic Movement," Gebran Bassil, where they discussed mechanisms to enhance government work in light of the necessary and unavoidable approach to face the dramatic developments in the country, especially considering the war following Lebanon's involvement.
