Attack on Libyan Prime Minister's House with Rocket Shells... No Casualties

A Libyan minister announced that the house of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh was targeted in a rocket attack, adding that the attack did not result in any human casualties. The minister, who requested anonymity, stated in a message that the attack only caused some damages. No further details were provided. Two citizens reported hearing loud explosions near the sea in the upscale Andalus neighborhood of Tripoli, where the Prime Minister's house is located. One of the citizens mentioned that security forces, reinforced with vehicles, spread across the area after the sound of the explosions was heard. Libya has not experienced significant security or stability since the NATO-backed uprising in 2011, followed by a division in 2014 among factions in the east and west of the country with two governments managing the eastern and western regions. The Government of National Unity, led by Dbeibeh, was appointed through a UN-supported process in 2021, but the parliament in the east ceased to recognize its legitimacy at the end of that year following a failed attempt to hold general elections, leading to prolonged political stagnation. Dbeibeh has pledged not to relinquish power to a new government without conducting general elections.
