The Chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, announced the organization of a major event at Wembley Stadium in London as part of "Riyadh Season." In recent years, significant bouts have been held under the patronage of Turki Al-Sheikh in Saudi Arabia, including the fight between British boxer Tyson Fury and French MMA fighter Francis Ngannou, as well as a match between another British boxer, Anthony Joshua, against Ngannou. Additionally, there is an anticipated showdown between Fury and Ukrainian world champion Oleksandr Usyk on May 18.
Al-Sheikh stated in comments reported by the British newspaper "Daily Mail": "I am talking, thinking, and studying with Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn (boxing promoters) to hold a massive event at Wembley in the third quarter of this year as a promotional event for Riyadh Season."
This news comes a week after Eddie Hearn announced that Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could finalize an agreement to face each other, with one of the bouts potentially taking place at Wembley Stadium. Notably, Joshua successfully defeated Ngannou in their match held in Saudi Arabia earlier this month. Discussing Al-Sheikh, Hearn remarked: "There is a noble man named Turki Al-Sheikh, and it is clear that he is a very influential figure in sports and entertainment in Saudi Arabia." He concluded: "It is remarkable that he is talking about staging two fights between Fury and AJ, one in the Kingdom and the other at Wembley."
