The Internal Security Forces organized an awareness activity focused on raising awareness about cyber crimes and traffic safety at George Sarraf Official Secondary School in Tripoli on February 20, 2024. This event is part of a cooperation protocol between the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces and the General Directorate of Education within the Ministry of National Education and Higher Education, aimed at enhancing security and social awareness among students as part of the community policing project funded by the European Union.
The activity involved approximately 380 students aged between 16 and 18 years. Officers and non-commissioned officers from the Cyber Crime and Intellectual Property Protection Bureau, along with the traffic safety team from the Internal Security Forces Institute, highlighted the importance of traffic safety and the risks associated with cyber crimes. The project also provided essential equipment to enhance safety at the school, including traffic signs, speed bumps, and solar lighting systems.
The event saw significant positive interaction from the students, who actively participated in practical activities and showed considerable engagement with the topics presented. It also contributed to fostering positive relationships between security forces and the community and encouraged students to promote safety and security.
Notable attendees included Joseph Muslim, head of the Public Relations Division, a representative from the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces in the cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, a representative from the Tripoli Municipality, Ahmad Harrouq, the director of George Sarraf Official Secondary School, Ingeborg Zorn, a representative of the European Union delegation in Lebanon, Consuelo Navarro, the director of the community policing project in Lebanon (FIIAPP), experts from the community policing project, and several officers from the security forces.
