The military spokesman for the Houthis, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced that Yemeni armed forces engaged today, Wednesday, with several American destroyers in the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab. In his statement, he said: "In support of the Palestinian people's plight and as part of the response to the American and British aggression against our country, we engaged today with a number of American destroyers and warships in the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab while those ships were providing protection to two American commercial vessels. The results of the engagement operation include the following: - A direct hit on an American warship. - Forcing the two American commercial ships to retreat and return. - The arrival of a number of our ballistic missiles to their targets despite the warships' attempts to intercept them." He continued: "Additionally, the Yemeni armed forces used a number of ballistic missiles in the engagement operation that lasted more than two hours. The Yemeni armed forces affirm their continued efforts to prevent Israeli navigation or vessels heading to the occupied Palestinian ports in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea until the aggression ceases and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted. The Yemeni armed forces emphasize taking all necessary military measures as part of the legitimate right to defend our country, our people, and our nation by targeting all American and British hostile objectives in the Red and Arabian Seas."
