Spanish media reports have revealed the position of "Barcelona" regarding rumors of attempts to sign French star Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain. The newspaper "Sport" confirmed that "the Catalan club is not aware of any news regarding attempts to acquire Mbappé." A source from within Barcelona stated that "the club knows nothing about the current discussions."
Barcelona expressed surprise at the news, which they consider a maneuver by the Parisian club to attract attention while contemplating different options in the market or to put pressure on Real Madrid, which has never hidden its interest in signing the player.
Previously, the French newspaper "L'Équipe" reported that there was a meeting between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain for a potential exchange deal involving several players in order to transfer Mbappé to the Spanish league champions. Mbappé's contract with PSG ends in June 2024, meaning he will become a free agent at that time and can move to any club without compensation or consulting the Parisian management.
However, the Parisian club refuses to let their star leave for free and has requested him to sign a new contract or agree to be sold this summer. In contrast, Mbappé, who is excluded from the team's tour in Japan and South Korea in preparation for the upcoming season, is unwilling to renew his contract, as the Parisian club believes their player has an agreement with Real Madrid to join them starting next summer.
