Jordanian King Abdullah II met in Washington on Monday with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga to discuss ways to enhance economic and developmental cooperation. The meeting addressed Jordan's efforts in economic modernization and public sector reform, where King Abdullah expressed his appreciation for the World Bank's support for the kingdom in implementing the Economic Modernization Vision programs on the ground. He praised the World Bank's support for water projects in Jordan, particularly the water desalination and transportation project from Aqaba to Amman (the National Carrier for Water). The King emphasized the importance of the World Bank's role in supporting public-private partnership projects, as well as projects in the transport and energy sectors. They also discussed the economic repercussions of the ongoing war in Gaza on Jordan. For his part, the World Bank Group President commended the kingdom's economic modernization vision and the progress made according to its timeline.
