Southern Lebanon Under Fire as Hezbollah Faces Blackouts in Meron

Escalation continues on the southern borders of Lebanon between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, with towns such as Aita el-Shaab, the outskirts of Jabine, Majdalyoun, al-Labouna, and KfarKila experiencing airstrikes and artillery shelling. An Israeli Merkava tank directly targeted a school for the disabled in the "Abu Tawil" neighborhood in Aita el-Shaab, in addition to artillery fire that hit the Harsh al-Hadb area in the town, along with shells falling in the town of Ramya.

Hezbollah stated: "In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their valiant and honorable resistance, the Islamic Resistance fighters targeted the Malekiya site with rocket fire at 5:50 PM on Friday, 23-02-2024, achieving a direct hit." The party claimed to have launched a drone that fell in the Merhlot settlement, causing power outages in a significant number of border settlements. Israeli media reported that a "drone war and disruption of the GPS system" are ongoing at the "border" with Lebanon. Additionally, Israeli media mentioned that widespread darkness prevails in many areas along the northern border with Lebanon, particularly in Meron.
