The Japan Football Association announced today, Wednesday, that the women's national team will face North Korea in the Paris Olympic qualifiers at Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah next Saturday. This announcement comes after the Japanese delegation traveled to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, without confirmation of the venue for the first match. The kickoff time for the match has not yet been announced. The match was initially scheduled to be held at Kim Il-sung Stadium in Pyongyang, but the Japan Football Association requested the Asian Football Confederation to move it to a neutral country due to travel difficulties to North Korea, which does not have official diplomatic relations with Japan. The return match will take place at the National Stadium in Tokyo on February 28th. Uzbekistan will face Australia in two matches to determine the other representative for Asia in the women's soccer competition at the Olympics later this year.
