Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior of "Real Madrid" has accused La Liga and Spain of racism after being subjected to abuse from the stands during the defeat against "Valencia" at the "Mestalla" stadium. The match was halted for 10 minutes due to crowd chants against Vinicius, who clashed with Valencia players and was sent off in the second half.
Vinicius stated: "It was not the first, second, or third time; racism is common in La Liga. The league management considers it normal, the Spanish federation sees it as acceptable, and rivals encourage it. The league previously belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano, and Messi, but today it belongs to racists." He wrote on his official Instagram account: "A beautiful country welcomed me, and I loved it, but I feel sorry for the Spaniards who do not agree with me, but today in Brazil, Spain has become known as a country of racists. I am strong and will fight against racists, even if the path is long."
Carlo Ancelotti, coach of "Real Madrid," condemned the incident on social media, stating: "It was a sad day at Mestalla, where a group of fans showed their worst side. It is time to stop talking and act; there is no place for racism in football or society, no to racism anywhere." La Liga announced that it would request all available footage to investigate the incident, adding in a statement: "If we identify any hate crime, we will take appropriate legal action."
