President of Czechia Injured in Motorcycle Accident

Czech President Petr Pavel suffered a minor accident on Thursday while riding his motorcycle, which required him to be taken to a hospital in Prague, where it was determined that his injuries were "not serious," according to his office. The Czech presidency stated in a post on X that Pavel (62 years old), who has been in office since March 2023, will remain in the military university hospital in Prague for an indefinite period. They added that "his injuries are not serious, but he should remain under observation for some time." According to Czech media, the president fell while riding his motorcycle on a closed circuit, and therefore the police did not launch an investigation into the incident. Pavel, a former general in NATO, enjoys riding motorcycles, and his current bike is a BMW R 1200 GS. Czech newspapers published a photo last summer of the president riding his motorcycle without a helmet.
