Resumption of Ceasefire Negotiations Between Israel and Hamas in Days

Israel announced today, Saturday, that indirect negotiations with Hamas will resume next week. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that "members of the Israeli security leadership unanimously agreed on the decision to resume negotiations and consider it a necessity." Earlier today, a source stated: "Mediation talks between Israel and Hamas are set to resume in a few days to reach an agreement for the release of Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip." The source added that "the decision to resume talks came after the head of the Israeli intelligence agency met with the director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and the Prime Minister of Qatar, who is involved in the mediation." It was further noted: "At the end of the meeting, it was decided that negotiations would begin this week based on new proposals, led by the mediators Egypt and Qatar with active U.S. participation."
