A Hamas official has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of attempting to undermine any prospects for a ceasefire in the ongoing war in Gaza, which has lasted for nearly seven months, through his threatening statements about launching a ground attack on Rafah.
Hossam Badran, a member of the Hamas political bureau, stated: "We are conducting internal discussions within Hamas's leadership and also with various factions, especially those in the resistance involved in this battle," before the negotiators return to Cairo to continue talks aimed at reaching a ceasefire.
However, he warned that Netanyahu, who "publicly states that he will invade Rafah regardless of the outcome of the negotiations, whether an agreement is reached or not," is seeking "through his repeated statements lately" to "fail any possibility of reaching an agreement."
