Alcaraz, the World Number One, Says He is a Complete Player

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, the world number one, appeared confident in his abilities as he reached the fourth round of his first Grand Slam as the top seed. He stated that he is a "complete player." Alcaraz defeated Canadian Denis Shapovalov with scores of (6-1), (6-4), and (6-2), setting up a meeting in the fourth round with Italian Lorenzo Musetti.

In a press conference, when asked about his strengths as a player, Alcaraz said, "I am a complete player. I would say that my strongest asset on the court is pushing to the maximum. I push my opponent to the limit every time." He noted that his previous participation in the 2022 French Open, where he lost in the quarterfinals, along with his experience at the US Open, started worse than this year's French Open.

He added, "At the US Open I was in a greater mess in the first week as well. Some matches are really tough at the beginning. They were really tough for me." Alcaraz became the youngest player to reach the top of the world rankings when he was 19 last year, and he is also the youngest top seed in Paris since Bjorn Borg in 1976. The 20-year-old has already won one Grand Slam title after clinching the US Open last year and is the favorite to win the current tournament on the clay courts in Paris.
