The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division announced today, Saturday, in a statement that "in the context of ongoing monitoring conducted by the specialized units of the Internal Security Forces to reduce motorcycle theft operations from various Lebanese regions, and as a result of field and intelligence efforts carried out by the Information Branch, a gang was identified that was stealing motorcycles from the Batroun area and transporting them to the Qubbeh area where they are either sold or moved to Syrian territory. As a result of extensive investigations and inquiries, this branch was able to identify all those involved in the theft operations, including: W. M. (born in 2003, Lebanese) and H. M. (born in 2005, Lebanese). On 24-2-2024, after careful monitoring and surveillance, one of the branch’s patrols managed to arrest them in a qualitative operation in the Qalamoun area while they were on two motorcycles, one of which was stolen (both were seized). Upon searching them and the motorcycles, tools used in theft operations were found in addition to two mobile phones.
During the investigation, they confessed to the charges against them regarding their involvement with others in transporting stolen motorcycles from the Batroun area to the Qubbeh area, for the benefit of a person who, along with others, sells them inside the Beddawi camp or transports them to Syrian territory. The second individual also reported committing several mobile phone snatching operations.
Additionally, the location of the person they were working for in the Batroun area was identified, where a raid was conducted by a patrol from the branch, resulting in the seizure of a motorcycle. The motorcycles were legally seized, and legal measures were taken against the detainees, who were handed over with the seized items to the relevant authorities based on judicial direction, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplices."
The Information Branch continues to arrest motorcycle theft gangs, having apprehended two individuals involved in the transportation of motorcycles in its third operation within 10 days. #Internal_Security #Security_is_Safeguard — Internal Security Forces (@LebISF) March 9, 2024
