Fires have once again erupted extensively in northern Israel late Monday into Tuesday following missile and drone strikes launched by Hezbollah from southern Lebanon, prompting the evacuation of some residents in a town near the border, according to Israeli authorities. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the head of the Jewish National Fund stated, "The damage caused by the fires in the north of the country is twice that of the damage caused by the fires of the Second Lebanon War." He added, "90% of Mount Naftali's forest has burned, and the fires have spread across approximately 14,000 dunams in northern areas." The police stated in a statement that "firefighting units, with the help of several agencies, are working to extinguish the flames," noting that many homes in the town of Kiryat Shmona near the Lebanese border have been evacuated.
