Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that "Western countries deliberately provoke tensions because they see the risk of a complete collapse of Ukraine in the area of the special military operation." Peskov pointed out that "the provocative statements of Western politicians intentionally escalate tensions." He added, "Europeans are doing their utmost to escalate the situation; they see that the circumstances are changing rapidly, and are, in fact, on the brink of total collapse for the Ukrainians, so they have themselves heightened the situation." Earlier, Bradley Devlin wrote in "The American Conservative" that "world leaders know the (true cost values), but they refuse to talk, fearing that citizens of various European countries will decide that Ukrainian democracy simply isn’t worth paying hundreds of billions of hard-earned money, and even more so, remaining without heat and other essentials this winter."
