Spanish club Barcelona will enter the "El Clasico" match against Real Madrid on Sunday afternoon with an "owl" design on their shirts. The players' jerseys will feature an image of the owl, which is the logo of the famous Canadian rapper Drake, marking the first "El Clasico" match between the two historic Spanish rivals this season in La Liga.
Barcelona announced on Friday that they will replace the logo of their new sponsor, "Spotify," with the logo of the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist, which depicts an owl in black and white. The use of Drake's "Owl" logo is in celebration of the Canadian star surpassing 50 billion streams on the Spotify platform.
The Catalan club stated in a press release on Friday: "Spotify has granted this special space on the shirt as part of the partnership framework with the club. This is just one of a series of actions being implemented by both brands to present innovative ideas and experiences for football fans, in addition to helping reach new audiences."
Barcelona also mentioned that more alternative logos will appear on their players' shirts in the future. Last season, Barcelona and Spotify agreed on a 12-year partnership, which includes the naming rights for Camp Nou to become "Spotify Camp Nou" and placing the streaming service's name on the shirts of both the men's and women's teams. Spanish media reported that the value of the deal is 400 million euros.
