French President Emmanuel Macron visited the French National Institute of Sport and Performance today, Tuesday, seeking to support the country's athletes, and emphasized that organizing the Paris 2024 Olympics should be flawless. Macron sat on the ground to speak with members of the French judo team and told them how much he relies on them "in this Olympic year."
Macron stated, "I am counting on you, not only to win medals but also to inspire the youth. Give it your all." He addressed the coaches, saying, "Are you ready? In any case, you are under a lot of pressure."
Macron noted that France managed to be "among the top five in the medal table" and confirmed in the presence of nearly a thousand people, including 500 athletes, that France will be ready for the "exceptional opportunity" of hosting the Olympic Games on its soil.
He assured that "we will continue our efforts after 2024, as we will organize the (Winter) Games in 2030 (in Nice), and I promise you that it will remain so until the end of my presidency (in 2027)."
The Paris 2024 Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, with the Paralympic Games following from August 28 to September 8.
Macron emphasized that "the organization of competitions in our country must be flawless," and added in a message to Tony Estanguet, the president of the Paris 2024 organizing committee: "For the past seven years, we have been working on this project, and I have always been decisive and creative; I know you will succeed."
