Title: Thousands of Cases of Customs Evasion and Currency Counterfeiting Discovered in Iraq

The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Interior in Iraq announced today, Wednesday, the detection of more than 4,000 cases of customs evasion and currency counterfeiting this year. Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Al-Sharji, Director of Relations and Media for the agency, stated that "the agency continues its efforts to eliminate organized crime gangs through its branches in the Organized Crime Directorate and its outreach across all Iraqi provinces." He added that "a campaign has been launched to combat customs evasion, resulting in the elimination of more than 4,000 cases in 2023." The Director of the Relations and Media Department confirmed that "153 cases of currency counterfeiting have been recorded this year, and the suspects have been arrested and referred to the relevant authorities to receive their just punishment."
