Young Algerian football player, 17-year-old Wassim Jazaar, passed away on Sunday evening after a week of suffering from a severe head injury sustained during a match between his team, Najm Ouadi Maa, and Amal Marouana. According to an Algerian news report, the young player spent nearly a week in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Algeria after suffering the injury caused by a violent tackle from a defender of Amal Marouana, resulting in him collapsing and being rushed to the hospital before he ultimately passed away.

The death of young player Wassim Jazaar, from Najm Ouadi MAA's under-17 team, after a serious injury sustained during his team's match, has raised concerns. Many social media users criticized the decision to hold matches for this age group during the heat of Ramadan, especially in the absence of an ambulance at the games. The Algerian Football Federation mourned the player in a statement on its official website, expressing profound sorrow and condolences from the President of the Algerian Football Federation, Walid Sadi. The statement continued, "In light of this tragic loss, the President of the Algerian Football Federation, on behalf of himself, the members of the federal office, and the Algerian football family, extends heartfelt condolences and words of comfort to the family of the deceased, his loved ones, and Najm Ouadi MAA club, praying to God to grant the deceased His vast mercy and to inspire patience to his family and relatives."
