Hamas issued a statement expressing its condolences for the death of American soldier Aaron Bushnell, whom they referred to as a "conscience" similar to that of activist Rachel Corrie. The statement read: "We express our condolences and full solidarity with the family and friends of American pilot Aaron Bushnell, who immortalized his name as a defender of human values and the plight of the Palestinian people who are suffering due to American administration and its unjust policies, just like American activist Rachel Corrie who was crushed by an Israeli bulldozer in Rafah in 2003, the same city where Bushnell paid with his life for pressing his government to prevent the criminal Israeli army from attacking and committing massacres and violations there."
The movement added: "The Biden administration bears full responsibility for the death of American pilot Aaron Bushnell due to its policies that supported the Nazi entity in the genocide against our Palestinian people, as he sacrificed his life to highlight the massacres and ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the Zionists against our people in Gaza. The tragic incident that cost pilot Bushnell his life is an expression of the growing anger among the American people who reject their country's policy that contributes to the killing and extermination of our people, and who oppose their government's violation of universal human values by providing cover to ensure the impunity of this entity and its Nazi leaders from punishment and accountability."
