U.S. Embassy: We Are Concerned... Escalation Will Have Serious Effects

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut wrote on its account via the "X" platform: "We remain concerned about the possibility of this conflict extending further. In particular, the United States does not want to see conflict in Lebanon, where escalation would have serious repercussions on regional peace and security, as well as the well-being of the Lebanese people. Restoring calm along the Israeli-Lebanese border is of utmost importance." It added: "The full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 is a key component of this effort." The U.S. Embassy continued, "UNIFIL plays a vital role along the Blue Line, and we expect all parties to work to ensure the safety of peacekeeping forces."
