The Social Council of Souq Al-Jum'ah and the surrounding areas condemned the arrest and abduction of several of its members, including three university professors, by a military entity following a council meeting. They hold the Dbaiba government responsible for the chaos and collapse in Libya.
In a statement, the council expressed surprise at the arrests that occurred just hours after their meeting on Saturday, stating, "We were shocked to learn of the detentions of some participants in the meeting, including three university professors, for reasons unknown to us."
The statement strongly condemned these practices, which do not serve the national interest and could be exploited by individuals with ill intentions to deepen division and instability in the capital.
The statement continued, "The Dbaiba government must protect its citizens from this disorder that enhances chaos and leads to the state's collapse."
It called for the immediate and unconditional release of all detained and abducted members and urged the government and the Attorney General to intervene to stop violations against citizens' freedom to engage in voluntary activities and provide their services under any chosen framework.
The statement appealed to the international community, human rights organizations, and relevant parties for urgent intervention to stop these violations and ensure the safety of the members.
