Hamas criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's demands for the movement to surrender, disarm, and hand over hostages in exchange for stopping the war on the Gaza Strip. A member of Hamas' political bureau, Izzat al-Risheq, stated in remarks that "Netanyahu's demands are ridiculous for local consumption and reflect the reality of his crisis situation after 220 days of his aggression and the genocidal war he is committing against our people in Gaza." Al-Risheq pointed out that "Netanyahu has not achieved any of his aggressive goals, other than committing more horrific massacres against unarmed civilians," noting that he is selling illusions with his talk about discussions regarding ensuring the evacuation of the movement's leaders outside the Gaza Strip and their exile. He clarified that "such statements reaffirm that he still lives in his illusions and dreams of achieving a supposed victory, which will never happen, or harming the symbols of our people and our resistance in Gaza, who do not know defeat or surrender."
