Dozens of Moroccans demonstrated last Friday evening in Rabat in solidarity with Palestine and Al-Aqsa following the recent escalation, demanding a halt to normalization with Israel.
Human rights activists and protesters gathered in front of the parliament building in the capital Rabat to express their solidarity with Palestine amid the recent escalation between Israel, Palestine, and Lebanon.
The demonstrators held Palestinian flags and keffiyehs, as well as images of Al-Aqsa, calling for the cessation of Morocco's normalization with Israel and its criminalization.
They raised slogans such as "The people want to end normalization" and "Palestine is a trust, and normalization is betrayal," along with "We are steadfast... we reject normalization."
This demonstration was called for by the "Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Against Normalization," which was established in 2021 in response to Morocco signing a normalization agreement with Israel in December 2020. The front consists of more than 15 political, union, and human rights organizations.
Morocco signed the normalization agreement with Israel on December 10, 2020, mediated by the United States in exchange for U.S. recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara region between Morocco and the Polisario Front since 1976.
