Austria Strengthens Its Position in the European Innovation Rankings

Austria has advanced two positions to rank sixth on the list of the most innovative countries in the European Union, known as the "Strong Innovators." Austria topped the list of countries in the group comprising Germany, Luxembourg, Ireland, Cyprus, and France, coming closer to joining the top group known as the "Innovation Leaders." The European Commission advised Austria to increase public funding for research and development to enhance its national innovation capacity and join the "Innovation Leaders" group. According to figures from the Austrian Statistics Authority for last year, the total spending on research and development reached 15.5 billion euros, with about two-thirds of these investments coming from companies.
